đ About Expanse
</aside>
Expanse supports a wide range of file types, making it super easy to upload a file and ask questions about it.
Simply upload files in any Thread by clicking the âAdd Fileâ button in the Editor.
Yes, you can upload images in Expanse.
Note that only certain LLMs with Vision can âreadâ images, as is shown with the eye icon.

Note: Adding more files will increase the amount of Credits for each message. You can view the estimated cost of your message in the Context Breakdown Bar.
</aside>
All your files stay private, and only get stored locally on your private device. We never store or access your data. We take your privacy seriously and always ensure your data is secure.
Since your files are privately stored on your local device, they are retained forever. This means you can always return to an older Thread where the file contents will be available for follow-ups. The file is only removed if you delete the associated Thread.

Note: that the more files and images you upload, the more storage/memory this will take up on your device.
</aside>
Make sure your file is text-based. If youâre uploading a PDF, the LLM wonât be able to âreadâ your images. You can verify this by trying to select text in the document; if you can select it, then the AI can see it.
If youâre trying to upload image files, make sure the LLM has Vision capability.
See the full list of our available LLMs and their capability here.
